MoneyBookers
Relatively new to the card processing scene, MoneyBookers is making an impressive start.
Even going so far as gaining approval from the FSA, MoneyBookers is the first regulated e-money mover anywhere.
With low fees capped at 1% of 0.5 Euros to send money, it's one of the cheapest processors for your customers to use. Plus, you can send money anywhere! (No list of banned countries like Paypal).
So what does all of this mean for the merchant?
Well, first of all, you have 100% protection against the dreaded chargebacks!
The fees are low enough for any size business to afford.
All payments sent by customers are made instantly, so there's no waiting for your money.
There are three products versions of MoneyBookers - the first is basic email payments, where you simply provide a link to the MoneyBookers site and ask your customers to pay you to your email address. You can add a MoneyBookers payment button if you wish.
However, most merchants will prefer to go for the merchant gateway option. This is a little more complicated, but well worth the effort.
It involves placing a small form on your site (all code supplied) so that people coming to your site can make payments by credit or debit card.
When a sale is made from your site, you receive an email confirming the payment. You then have to log into your account and make sure that your payment was in fact received (as emails can be forged).
The final option is full site integration and this requires some basic knowledge of HTML.
Your customers can pay you immediately via credit card, even if they are not yet registered with MoneyBookers. All they need is to have their mobile phone ready to allow them an instant transaction authorisation during the payment process.
If you choose the merchant gateway option, MoneyBookers charges a 2% fee on credit card transactions - still lower than most providers.
Unusually, MoneyBookers also accepts adult web sites and supports recurring billing.
Again, we recommend MoneyBookers as an excellent choice for a secondary payment processor, but also as a potential first-choice if you don't want the hassles and set up costs involved with getting a merchant account.
